The peninsula has beautiful beaches and pleasant weather. It is also cheap, but there is no luxury here. You will need a tent to visit this natural park.
The Ukrainian National Park, “Biloberezhia Sviatoslava” at the Black Sea, stretches along the coast and includes wildlife such as pelicans, swans, snakes, and dolphins. The white beaches are beautiful, and the weather is hot during the summer, making it perfect for a getaway from noisy Kyiv or simply as an alternative to the more touristic Odesa, where the constant noise of people and shops can be heard on the beach.
“Biloberezhia Sviatoslava” has gotten the nickname – the Ukrainian Bahamas – and while it might be a bit overestimated, the peninsula offers good opportunities for an alternative vacation. There are several camp spots along the southern coastline, where you can pitch your tent and where it is possible to have a shower and get clean drinking water.
A night rarely costs more than 150 hryvnias per person, but you will need to bring your food and cooking equipment. Not all camps have a kitchen, and the shops often run out of products. If that and a good amount of mosquitoes don’t scare you away, you are in for a beautiful vacation, where it is possible to kick back and relax outside civilization.
It is possible to visit the natural park by boat from Mykolaiv or Ochakiv, which costs 60 to 250 hryvnia per person. It is also possible to come by car, but the roads are bad, so you will need a reliable vehicle to make the journey.
You can read more about the park here. Also, “Biloberezhia Sviatoslava” is close to Odesa, and you can, therefore, combine the two trips.
